AI Engineer

SUMMARY:

We are seeking an AI Engineer to develop and integrate AI-driven solutions across our organization. The ideal candidate has experience working with AI APIs, fine tuning models, evaluating models for specific applications, automating AI workflows, building AI agents, hosting AI models, and has general coding abilities or aptitude. You will be joining a software innovation team focused on delivering high value AI solutions.  We want someone who understands the evolving AI landscape. Having the skills to utilize the various forms of AI is only part of the role. We need a business minded, strategic thinker, to help us create a short and long term AI & technology strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• AI Development & Integration: Build and integrate AI-powered solutions using APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others.
• Automation & AI Agents: Develop intelligent agents and automate workflows using tools like Make.com, n8n, and Zapier to streamline business processes.
• Workflow Optimization: Design, build, and maintain AI-powered automation workflows that reduce manual effort and enhance efficiency.
• Model Deployment & Hosting: Host, fine-tune, and deploy AI models locally or in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• API Engineering: Develop and maintain AI-related APIs to enable seamless interaction between different AI services and business applications.
• Data Processing & Management: Work with structured and unstructured data to improve AI model performance.
• Collaboration & Implementation: Work with software engineers, data scientists, and business teams to implement AI solutions effectively.
• AI Research & Innovation: Stay updated with the latest AI advancements and identify new automation opportunities.  
• Teaching & Coaching:  As our company expert you will have the responsibility of sharing your knowledge and expertise with those that need to learn it.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: 2+ years in AI engineering and automation.
• Strong knowledge of prompt engineering.  You will be asked to explain the fundamentals and train others on how to approach prompt engineering.
• Coding experience in Python, C#, Angular, or similar languages.
• Strong experience using AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, Google Vertex AI, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Make.com, n8n, and/or Zapier for AI-driven automation workflows.  We will want to review previously created solutions.
• Database and data related skills.  Experiencing querying and manipulating data.  Experience using a variety of database technologies.
• Experience fine-tuning LLMs.  We will also be looking to use (RLHF)
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize AI applications and automation workflows.
• Collaboration: Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and communicate AI-driven automation solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

This is an in-person position at our NHA Service Center located at 3850 Broadmoor Ave., Grand Rapids, MI.
